KING ME

Thank you Stephen King.
Thank you for reminding me I need to read…
Thank you for giving me permission to find the time to read…
Thank you for pointing out that in order to be a good writer…
A writer must read.
On my friend Connie’s  blog last week…
She had this clip of Stephen King.
Oh, and it’s not that I don’t read…
I do.
But I don’t dedicate specific time every day for reading.
(unless you consider time on the pot)
Reading always feels like a guilty pleasure…
When there are so many other things that need to get done.
It’s why I love to fly.
What else can  you do at 30,000 feet
With no interruptions?
Even waiting to get on the plane…
Is valuable reading time.
Next week…
I’m going to the RWA National conference.
The plane ride to Orlando
Is about two and a half hours going…
And two and half hours coming back…
I figure that’s five hours of pure uninterrupted…
Reading time.
Except for stopping to eat
That  very small bag of peanuts.

Always, Em-Musing

Em,

Thanks for the link-back. I love Stephen King. I love his work and I love the advice he gives. I have to agree this is the most important bit, and the one that we most often don;t allow ourselves (like you said). Read. Not only is it relaxing, but you'll be learning something too.
