PIGEON DROP

As I’m sending out more queries this week…
With all the emotions that go with this task…
And, oh, you know those feelings, don’t you?
Hope, angst, anticipation, and preparation for…
(If the worst happens)
Rejection.
Coincidently…
I’m still reading that literary fiction book…
Where I don’t like the character…
But I love the author’s writing…
Specifically for her use of similes and metaphors…
And here’s one of hers maybe you (I did) can relate to:
“But so certain am I that the rejection letter’s
going to wing back like a homing pigeon, I just jam
what I have in an envelope with an apology for how
cobbled up it is.
Ha! “wing back like a homing pigeon.” Funny!
Well, I’ll see how funny I feel in a few weeks and months.
When mine "wing back".
But for now…
I’m keeping the faith like…
(fill in metaphor here)

Always, Em-Musing

I'm keeping the faith like the Pope will meet Christ when he dies.

Is that too lame?

I'm pulling for you and have every faith your book will get picked up.

Now go write something else to take your mind off the query process.

LOL! Anne! Better simile than I can come up with.
