ONCE UPON A NOTEBOOK

The other day…
While cleaning out my house that I sold..
(Yippee yay! I sold it! Oh no! Now I gotta haul everything out of there!)
I stumbled upon a notebook in the attic…
Of old writings consisting of…
Two short stories…
And the start of a novel.
I’d forgotten all about them…
After all, it’s been twenty-some years…
Since I typed—yes typed—these words…
And all I can say is:
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
These are sooooooooo funny!
Problem is…
None of the stories were humorous fiction…
It was my inexperience as a writer writing…
That was the joke!
I cannot believe I wrote so badly!
Oh sure, the stories were OK…
But everything else?
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
HA HA HA HA!
So?
Did you ever stumble on your own…
Once upon a notebook?

Always, Em-Musing

First, congratulations on the sale of your house--quite an accomplishment in this day and age. As for the notebook--I have no such thing, because I only started writing two years ago and I only type, never hand-write. That being said, I know I could open up the file containing my very first novel attempt if I ever need a good laugh.

I have. It was ... ah, amusing. My goals and perspective sure have changed over the years. But at least I had vision back in the day to do something awesome!

You've sold your house - congratulations!

I hate looking back at stuff I wrote more than a couple of years ago. I cringe with embarrassment. Still, it's far better to have written dross than have written nothing. Right? :)

Congrats on selling your house! Unfortunately I've lost all my notebooks :( Have no idea where I put them when I moved to Greece ...

What if I still laugh at my own writing? Is that bad? Hmmm...it just might be.

Yes,saw the post. My computer was running so slow yesterday, I didn't have the patience to comment anywhere. Sorry. Shame on you, driving your daughter nuts. I always told my kids that was my job, making them crazy and embarrassing them.

Yes basil and other good smelling things. You're gonna love the tropics.

OH yes, I have! A cute story about ten pages long, front and back, hand-written when I was only 11 years old! I thought it was epic since I actually divided it into about 5 chapters. LOL! And yes, the grammar and stuff has me laughing, but you know, I am in awe at the imagination I had. Still have! ;)

Glad you're all moved out! :)

It's always fun to see the changes time, and our own selves, bring to the page now. Even if the writing's okay, even our own perspective changes as we go ...

Yay on your house sale!
And ha ha on the old stories. I haven't read any of my old journals recently(I don't really have any fiction from way back when) but I'm sure they're hilarious.
