WHAT THE...?

I am so sorry!
To all bloggers that I follow...
The below message is what I get...
Every time I try to post a comment.
WHAT THE...?
But see what I mean about Blogger?
They're punishing me.
First no-see-um followers...
Now no-comments-me!
And I don't know enough Spanish...
To translate the message Blogger is giving me.
And why Spanish?
I write my blog in English.

I'M CHALLENGED

Um...
Um...
Um...
Oh, good Lord!
I just signed up for the A - Z Challenge...
And all I get out of my brain is um?
What the...?
Well I better get more then 'um' on Sunday...
Because that's the first day of the challenge...
And I've got a whole alphabet to write about.
Today though, I'm doing a test run of the graphics...
To make sure the A -Z Challenge logo...
Will paste onto my blog...

But as you can see...

Here it is.
I just can't put it in my sidebar...
Because when I designed my blog...
I bastardized Blogger's template...
And Blogger has punished me ever since.
Like this week...
They won't display my followers...
First you saw my followers, then not...
Then you saw them again, and now still not.
The other challenge for April is...
Blogger is changing formats...
Lord!
I pray they still allow me to paste the A-Z Challenge logo.
So...
I guess I'll see you on Sunday...
When I write about "A".
So?...
If you haven't signed on to the A - Z Challenge...
How come?
Or do you ave enough challenges in your writing?
What are they?

Always, Em-Musing

SWIFFER EDITING

I’m not a mop snob, I swear!
But I am Swedish…
And Swedes are known for cleaning…
(at least my Nana was)
So there I was yesterday in the gym….
And a cleaning lady was moping.
But this lady’s mopping bothered me.
All that mopping just seemed useless…
Because all it was doing was pushing around…
The same old wet grunge on the floor.
And that’s why I like Swiffers…
They trap the dirt on the cloth…
And then the dirty filthy cloth is thrown away.
As I cycled watching this lady push around the wet grunge….
I thought about the edits I’m making on my manuscript when...
HOLY FILTHY WET MOP!
I was editing the same way...
Just pushing and rearranging the same old words…
If I wanted to Swiffer edit…
I’d have to get rid of what wasn’t working.
Once I got home from the gym…
I sat down at my laptop, opened up my manuscript…
Gathered up some phrases, sentences and paragraphs and…
GULP!
Tossed them.
I then took a shower.
When I came back I looked at what I had edited…
The chapter was better! Cleaner!
So?
Are you good at deep Swiffer editing?
How do you know what’s working and what’s not?

CHANGE IS NOT GOOD

What the…?
I swear!
Can nothing stay the same?
First my fun font just up and changed...
And now my followers!
They’re gone!
And I mean gone ga ga gone.
Well, not totally true…
I still have them somewhere…
But where?
And why did they go?
Why you ask? You think you can abandon me?
What the…?
That’s right, writer girl, it’s your Blog talking.
But…
Look, just cause your mind went numb…
doesn’t mean I did. You left me!
But…
Oh but my butt!
You don’t have a butt.
OK I may not have a butt, but I had an existence…
People read me from all over the globe…
Like someone from Gouy-lez-pieton, Hainut.
You’re kidding, right?
Don’t’ you ever check anything on your blog?
Where is that country anyway?
I don’t know, but you’re Miss Google Queen. Look it up.
Oh, and by the way, I like the changes you made on your
first chapter of IS IT NOW YET?
Really?
Would your blog lie?
Umm? I don’t know how to answer that.
And it’s time to get your butt in gear…
And send out more submissions.
But I don't know if it's ready…
No butts about it. DO It!
OK I will.
And while I’m doing that…
I’m also gonna try to find my followers again.
So if you’re a new follower, I can’t see you yet...
But I do say, HELLO!

Anyone else have problems with Blogger lately?

THREE WISE MEN

Phew!
My mind. Is back...
Having taken quite a side trip.
It all started with a rejection letter.
Not so unusual…
I’ve gotten a few since I started the submission process…
And I rolled with them. No biggie.
But the last one was personal…
“I’m afraid these pages do not draw me in as hoped"...
Aw. Really?
I've worked hard...
Trying to make my first few pages page-turners…
And then once again…
Insecurity whispered in my ear.
“See? You’re really not writer. Who do you think you are?”
But before I could refute—Whooosh!
My mind retreated to the Place of Numb…
Safe, non-emotional numb.
The next day…
My body took my mind back to Ohio..
For a visit with family—yay!
And doing taxes—yuck!
Then last week, my body took my mind…
Back to my beloved Akumal, Mexico
Where I attended a week-long Awakening Seminar…
Featuring:
OMG!
My mind eagerly came out of hiding…
Because not only did the words of these men energize me…
But they also gave me perspective and vision...
And now my mind is in a good positive place.
So?
Do you know any of the three men above?
Do you know the Place of Numb?
Or have you learned to bitch slap your insecurity?

PEDAL TO THE METTLE

Since moving here to Akumal…
I’ve been going to a gym to work out.
Yesterday…
I got on a stationary bike…
Thinking it would be fun to just pedal.
So I get on the bike…
And the readout on the screen said…
What is your goal?
Really?
This bike wants to know…
What my goal is?
For a moment I freaked thinking…
Is this bike questioning me on my submissions?
(I’m still sending them out, btw)
And then I realized, haha…
The goal was for the workout.
Goal? I had no goal…
Hell, I just wanted to pedal for fun…
But it didn’t matter.
I still had to determine if my goal was:
Distance….
Time…
Or speed…
And then the bike would tell me…
How many calories I burned.
Well, that got me thinking…
Of writing goals. So if:
All my efforts (burning calories)= a finished manuscript…
Than I need to determine…
What method works best for me:
Time = how many hours a day I write
Speed = how fast I can write
Distance= my world count
After awhile I realized…
Because of all the calculations...
I wasn't enjoying my pedaling...
So I shut the damn screen off…
And just pedaled for the joy of it.
And that’s how I feel about my writing.
I write first the joy,..
Yet with a specific goal in mind.
So? What about you?
When you sit down to write...
What comes first?
The joy?
Or the goal?
