EMOTIONAL RIPPING

I love the honesty of toddler’s behavior.
They just let their emotions RRRRIIIIPPPPPPP!
And while they’re flailing around screaming in public…
You’re saying in your head…
SHADUP!!!!!
But you got to admit…
Their emotions are genuine…
And really…
Don’t you wish you could really do the same…
When you’re going through say…
A drive-thru bank line that won’t move…
And you’re stuck in the middle…
And you’re already late for something…
Don’ t you wish you could just let it rip…
“WHAT THE ‘F’ IS TAKING SO LONG?
WOULD THE IDIOT WITH A THOUSAND TRANSACTIONS JUST GO INSIDE!
Or you go to a big box store…
And all you want is to get and get out quickly…
But you’re wandering around…
Looking for someone to answer a simple question…
Like what’s the price of the electric can opener…
And you’ve combed all thirty aisles TEN TIMES…
Don’t you wish you could just scream…
WHERE THE ‘F’ IS EVERYBODY?
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
Or when you’re in say, in a Verizon store…
Needing an answer to a simple question…
About your new 'smart' phone...
And the young woman behind the counter…
Looks at you like you’re Grandma Moses…
And talks to you like you’re two without a clue..
Don’t you wish you could just scream…
LISTEN YOU LITTLE SNOT…
I WAS AROUND…
WHEN COMPUTERS FIRST CAME OUT…
I KNOW DOS! THAT’S RIGHT, DOS!
SO, DON’T CONDESCEND TO ME, MISSY!
So,
The next time you see a toddler screaming…
Be envious…
That they’re displaying their real emotions...
Because soon…
Those real emotions...
Will be spanked or punished out of them.
So?
When do you wish you…
Could just let your emotions RRIIIIPPPPPPP!

Always, Em-Musing

Oh, totally! What drives me mental is tourists who stop right on the sidewalk, in the way of everyone else. GRR.

Perfect post for me today because I sure would like to be able to just scream and vent.

Sheesh, I don't know DOS, lol! As for smart phones--my kid is my help--you push this mom and then do this and this and that.

OH. okay.

I never was much of a screamer even as a child but a slow and stupid driver can make me want to yell as does the person who can't read the sign that says 20 items or less....

I appreciate a good catharsis now and then. But very little constructive ever happens when emotions are allowed to run amock. Maybe that's why we have such a moratorium against them? If you are into Star Trek, you bring up an interesting point that makes me think of the Vulcans who turned to logic in order to save their race because they were too emotional. It kind of makes sense.

Wait, what...!?! I'm not supposed to throw myself on the ground and have a tantrum when things aren't going my way? Oopsie :)

That's why I love riding roller coasters. I can scream my bloody head off and laugh like a kid and no one thinks twice.

Hah! I AM a toddler and let my real emotions out whenever applicable. Just ask my daughter who cringes when we have to get in the car. She always says, "Mom, are you going to be crazy today?" Of course. Our ride to school these days is a half hour (yes, a half hour) in morning traffic. I've started making up fake swear words. Toad wart and Yo Fonzie are two of her favorites, especially Yo Fonzie said with hand gestures and my famous East Coast accent.

I wish it was as easy as just letting our emotions rip, but then, what a noisy world it would be! I'd stay home all the time. Wait, I already do that...

Well said, Leigh. There are a lot of times I wish I could let my emotions rip, but -- and I've learned this best from my husband who is so very good at it -- restraint says so much about our character.
