ZING GOES MY MOUTH

The day after Thanksgiving…
I talked with my cousin in Philly…
After the usual yada yada stuff she proclaimed…
“I’m the Queen of Turkey Picking.”
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“I can pick a turkey clean better than anyone!”
We laughed a while then hung up.
Minutes later…
I was still chuckling at her ‘Queen’ reference.
And that got me thinking….
My cousin is an accomplished photographer…
Yet she boasts the most about picking a turkey.
And that got me wondering…
While I’m an accomplished writer…
It’s not the same as being ‘Queen’ of something.
If I was ‘Queen’ of something…
What would it be?
What is it that I do that’s better than anyone?
Hmm?
I know…
Queen of Zingers!
It’s true…
I can quash someone’s ego at the flip of a quip.
I’m not proud of that, mind you, really I'm not…
It’s just that this was my family's humor...
When I was growing up in New York...
However...
It didn't play well when I moved to the Midwest...
And it definitely doesn't play well here in Mexico.
So?
Is humor regional?
You tell me...
And while you're at it...
Are you the ‘Queen’ of something?
Or king?
And if so…
What is it?

Always, Em-Musing

Definitely not a queen! I am the King of Hot Tamale demolishing though.

Yup! You're the queen of zingers! I think they're funny, and there's nothing wrong with that. And yes I think they're regional. It's mixed here in Philly, some people get it and some don't. And yes, in less than five minutes that carcass is clean!!

I think you're right about some forms of humor being regional. I don't think I'm Queen of anything. So perhaps I am the Queen of Nothing.

I think I'm the King of Mediocrity. I do mediocrity better than anyone else.

I'm Queen of Odd. Ask anyone. Maybe you can cultivate a new queen-ness.

Yes, humor is regional. Definitely.

As for being Queen -- Just call me Jane - Queen of all trades. I can do almost anything I set my mind to. Of course, it doesn't always come out the way I want it, but at least I try.

I'm way too humble for Queen but I'll take a Ladyship if it's available.

Nice post! The only thing I am queen to is my home, that's according to the hubby anyway. :) Your posting reminds me of the parable of the Talents. :) Great posting! Oh- and I hate picking a Turkey. I always pass that job to the hubby.:)
