THE BLACK MOMENT

Don’t you just hate it when this happens
You go into a project with a friend
Get all excited and plunk down some $$$
Then spend months working on it
Only to have said friend
Back out of the project because
      ** NEWS FLASH **
WRITER DIES AT WRITER RETREAT
OK, not a true news story
But definitely a true story
This wimp/liar/nutcase friend
Who was going to do the retreat with me
Looked me square in the eye and said
I just know if I do this retreat Ill die!
The energy is wrong! Its scary!
I am not joking.
How do you possibly counter that?
You can’t, and I didn’t.
I told her she’s entitled to her belief system
And I, mine.
e.g. I believe in keeping your word
I believe in not letting your friends down
Yada, yada, yada.
Was I hurt? Disappointed? Shocked? Confused?
Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
But when someone has a belief system
So strong
You have to concede that nothing you say
Will change their crazy mind.
*sigh*
I know Ill soften
Because I don't hold grudges
And I do plan on regrouping next year
Because it will take several people to replace her.
She was that good.
* sigh *
But on the upside
I have more time to work on my goals.
So?
How are you at getting over stuff?
And not holding grudges?

Always,
Em-Musing

Holding grudges only hurts the person holding them.
She'll die? Maybe you are better off without her if she's that frail.

You can't fight crazy. I'm so sorry she backed out on you.

Sorry you were disappointed. Hope things work out better for your next retreat.
Good luck with those goals too :)

That does sound rather disheartening. It depends on the issue whether I'll hold a grudge or not. If someone lets me down in a big way I may not hold a grudge, but I remember it in the sense that I won't make future plans with them. But it really depends on the issue and the person. Some people have let me down a lot before I learned my lessons with them.

If several people replaced your friend it would probably be appreciated by the people holding the writer's retreat. From a different point of view shouldn't a retreat be a time to get alone and away from friends. Maybe. I don't know. I've never been to a retreat so I don't know what it's like.
