OK, Halloween is over…
And now comes …
Dias de los Mujertos.
Or the Day of the Dead.
I think cultures that celebrate this day are very brave.
They honor their dead relatives…
By going to their grave…
Bringing food, flowers, candles and gifts…
And then have a picnic of sorts.
Some families even stay the night…
And hope their relative shows up…
I admire that kind of love and courage because…
Yikes! That would scare the crap out of me!
I'm glad my culture expects our dead to stay put.
Oh, sure, we'll go to a medium…
And have the medium "talk" with our dearly departed.
And sometimes our loved ones…
May appear like a smoky vision…
But we don't encourage our loved ones…
To actually rise up from their grave…
To join us at the gravesite.
Desculpe me, lo siento, I'm sorry!
I know my thoughts may be insulting to many…
But it was weird enough that my parents told me…
That ghosts really did exist…
I'm just glad they never took me to the cemetery and told me that.
Hmm?
Dias de los muertos has been celebrated for centuries…
I wonder if anyone has ever showed up?
Always, Em-Musing

While I’m participating in NaNoWriMo, I will be having some
re-run posts.

Okay, that freaks me out! I'll stick with celebrating the basic holidays! Good luck with NaNo!
I'm with you on scary.
And good luck with your word count this month.
They do this at a large cemetery here for All Souls Day, bringing candles to all the graves. At night with those candles burning, it is quite a sight to see.
