been jumping through hoops lately…
Mexican
immigration hoops…
As are
many expats living in Mexico
Yes,
folks…
The
Mexican government…
Is adamant
that visas for foreigners are up-to-date.
Imagine
that?
While
I am not a citizen of Mexico
I do
have a residency visa...
That
is due to be renewed…
But
this year…
The
Mexican government is requiring lots of paperwork…
Like
proof that I pay property taxes…
Even
pictures of where I live…
Because
they’re going to come and check it out.
Imagine
that?
And
there’s a chance my visa may not get renewed.
The
fact that I own a Mexican corporation…
(and really, it’s not as impressive as
that sounds)
Doesn’t
matter.
What
matters is that I jump through their hoops.
Because
everything here is legal smegle with immigration.
Imagine
that?
I’m
not usually political in my posts…
But
I just had to share this process…
Because
I know most America
Don’t
know this about Mexico
And ousts
those that don’t belong.
Imagine

Not surprised, things were becoming difficult on STX, and THAT is a US Territory. Everyone (except maybe the continental US) is concerned about who takes up residence there.

I work in the welfare department in America. I see lots of Mexican aliens who refuse to jump through American emigration hoops to be legal. And why bother - have a kid born as an American citizen and you're home free with an instant income, and the authorities won't deport you for anything less than violent gang activity because you are the parent of an American citizen.
A couple of years ago Texas enacted state legislation where ANYONE could be stopped on the street and asked to produce citizenship papers. The president of Mexico said that was unethical. When the Texas Governor asked what HE would do to an American citizen that illegally entered his country, he said they'd be immediately exported, but America had civil rights laws that prevent the targeting of illegals for exportation.
One of my co-workers had to re-up her husband's LPR (Lawful Permanent Resident) card. It cost $650, and they had to list every time he visited Mexico since his legal entry into the States, his criminal record - including a DUI 22 years ago - his work history, etc etc. About 50 pages of facts and verification's.
Yes, I see why it is easier to just have a baby born in America as opposed to becoming a legal immigrant. The US (at least in California) will pay you to live here illegally.
Perhaps all you need do is have a baby in Mexico to bypass all the legal expense and paperwork to live there worry free for the next 18 years or so!
