So here it is …
My first Insecure Writer’s Support Group Post
Hmm?
What am I insecure about?
Words!
Words from the past…
Words of my mother…
Words that might come true:
“You always start things but never finish.”
GULP!
Is it true?
OK, yes, for some things…
But no, not all things!
However with this writing-to-get-published thing…
Here is my insecurity…
That I’ll lose gusto…
Won't be able to go the distance…
Not send out enough queries…
Not find that agent or editor…
Not do all the marketing and all the follow-up…
Ya know - not get to the finish line!
I just finished reading Gregg Braden's book:
The Spontaneous Healing of Belief
It shows how your belief system…
Affects your health, happiness, relationships…
Well, all aspects of your life
And how visualization manifests what you want.
I guess I'm always good at seeing me published…
Ya know, basking in the shine of accolades
But not seeing me doing the work to get there.
So?
Is visualization any part of your writing life?
Or any part of your life?
Always,
Em-Musing

If you can see it, you can do it. (Unless you see yourself sprouting wings. That might not happen.) You'll never know any of that if you don't try.
And welcome to the IWSG!
Oh, man, exactly! I always write enough, but editing enough? querying enough? promoting enough? Not so much. I just want to write books and have some other nut who likes all that other stuff sell me. erm...
Belief and attitude impact so many things in our lives.
Welcome to the IWSG.
Small steps is good. Set yourself goals that are achievable and keep building on that. Never lose sight of where you want to be though . . . getting published is possible, the proof is all around us. I try and hold onto that fact and forge ahead towards the bigger goal at the end. I have never tried visualization as such, but a friend of mine has told me about it before and I certainly like to think about myself as a published author.
I do think it helps to stop and be sure we know what we're aiming for - that's probably a form of visualisation.
I think that visualizing definitely makes a difference in finishing projects, and having a good attitude. I think visualizing the work as well as the reward definitely helps, too. And, then there's the actual sit down and type part .. . it comes. Just one word in front of the other. :)
I used to fear one day I'd get tired of writing. After all, I went through a phase where I wanted to be a dancer, ice skater, and actress when I was younger. But it turns out, writing is something that lets you do ALL of those things in your imagination, so you never get bored! I think the key is just to start writing and keep going until you write THE END. Try not to overthink it!
