December 3 Question: As a writer, what was one of the coolest/best gifts
you ever received?
I got a gorgeous gift of a pen one Christmas...
From my best friend, also a writer.
She said she has one just like it...
And uses it all the time when she writes.
Beautiful, no?
And I love it, yes!
But sadly...
I don’t use it.
It’s been sitting in a ceramic jar with all my other pens and pencils for several years now..
Why?
Because I’m very specific about the pens I use.
It’s not about the price, the quality, or how beautiful a pen is...
For me it’s how it feels in my hand...
Like the thickness when I hold it...
I like my pens to be more sleek...
And fit slimly in my hand.
I also like fine pen points — .7 to be exact.
I like the ink to flow freely...
But not a gel pen.
And it can’t weigh heavy between my fingers.
Me?
My pen preference?
BIC Diamente...
It’s actually made here in Mexico.
One of many countries where they’re made.

That was a sweet gift from your friend. But we all have pens we really like.
I'm not that particular with pens -- the ink just has to flow right -- and I run out too many of them to really be picky. (With journaling daily.) At any rate, what a beautiful gift!

I have certain pens I like too, but like Alex, as long as it writes I'll use it.
I'm not particular about pens either, but that was very thoughtful of your friend to gift you a pen.
Pens are extremely personal. I'm so fussy about mine, and like you, if I don't have the perfect one, I go for the pencil!
Neat gift indeed. Can't say I'm over particular. As long as it works, I'm usually good.
That was a thoughtful gift from your friend, Leigh. Although you don't enjoy writing it, I'll bet you think of your best friend every time you see it. That makes it a gift that keeps giving! The Riviera Maya looks fabulous! Especially since it's snowing here in freezing Colorado! Enjoy!
Besides, you wouldn't want to use that special pen up, would you?
Anonymously Esther O'Neill, East of the Sun, and on December 3rd, instead of reading your post, thousands of years back in time on a Scottish hill, Neolithic site, laptop accidently left behind, a whole week's unplanned detox...

I hear you, I'm particular about my pens, too! I haven't used anything except a Pilot G-Tec C4 in years and years, ha ha!
