I did it again…
I read another pirate book…
During my travels to the Caribbean.
The first pirate book I read was Michael Crighton’s Pirate Latitudes…
And on this trip it was Tim Power’s On Stranger Tides.
I don’t know why I’m fascinated with all things pirate, but I am.
Hmm? Is there a pirate genre?
Or gene?
Anyway…
Anyway…
With the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie out…
You know I’ve just got to see it.
And so I Googled the movie times for it and–
It’s Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides!
I didn’t know that the movie was based on the book...
When I decided to read it.
I guess I was attracted…
To the skull and crossbones on the cover…
(yes, cover art wooed me)
And the treasure of the story to be discovered within.
But alas…
My friend told me she saw the movie…
And despite Jack Sparrow still being so good to look at…
With all his swaggering and swashbuckling action…
And let's not forget his eye make-up...
She still thought the movie stunk.
Aw.
Well, because I read the book…
I think I owe it to myself to see it.
What about you?
Have you seen it?
If you have, I’d love to hear your review.
And have you ever read any pirate books?
Always, Em-Musing
