So?
Ever see Poltergeist?
Remember when that tiny lady Tangina said:
“Cross over children. Go to the light.”
And I’m sure you’ve heard stories…
About people who’ve had near death experiences…
They always claim they saw a wonderful, glorious light.
Well it got me wondering…
When it’s my time…
And I hear whoever says it say…
“Come to the light Leigh. Come to the light.”
Um…I might have to think about that…
Because exactly what kind of light is over there?
If it isn’t sun, moon, candle or incandescent...
I’d just as soon stay where I can control my lighting.”
You see, I’m extremely affected by light…
It’s one of the reasons…
I’m moving away from the Midwest…
I need sunshine!
I can’t take drear and gloom—on end!
And it’s not just natural light that affects me…
I won’t shop in a certain grocery store…
Because of its harsh overhead fluorescent lighting.
I prefer certain restaurants that have soft ambient light.
LED? Maybe in Times Square, but not my Christmas lights.
And I’m a holdout on CFL’s— way too harsh, too bright.
So?
Are you affected by certain lighting?
Or by lack of sunshine?
What kind of light do you prefer?
How drastic are your measures to get good lighting?
Or am I the only one with…
Badlightaphobia?
Always, Em-Musing
P.S. Maybe it explains why I chose yellow as my background color for my blog?

Oh me too! When I wake up in the morning I'm the type to immediately pull open all the blinds in the house and start the day with natural LIGHT!
I do get sluggish and tired when it's cloudy for too many days in a row. I don't think we'd survive England. LOL
Considering it's noon before I finally pull back the blinds on a weekend, I guess I'm not too dependent on sunlight.
I am vulnerable to SAD (seasonal affective disorder) which the Midwest winter amplifies. My husband and I keep the blinds open as much as possible and get outside to take advantage of the natural light, even when the temps drop. But we ARE fans of LED and CFL's because they are eco-friendly. C'mon Em! Gotta keep the planet healthy and vibrant for our future...and the future of our grandkids.
I'm lucky to have tons of windows in my house so I get a lot of natural light. I've never really thought much about it. Super interesting post :)
I love light. Light is good. As far as near death goes, much of that can be explained by hallucinations that the brain goes through as opposed to actual gateways to a celestial realm filled with just rewards for a well-lived life (including multiple lovers and a Mercedes).
I'm like you, Jennifer. First thing in the morning, blinds and curtains are opened. Right about now, I'm craving sunshine and the beach, but won't be getting that til March. Glad you'll get plenty of sunshine after your move, Leigh.
You're moving? You gotta go where you gotta go and your happiness is worth it! Be careful and keep us updated!

There's nothing like real sunlight to make a person feel good. After many hours under fluorescents, I wilt a little.
I actually like any light, as long as it doesn't glare too much. :-)
I'm more of a low-level light kinda guy, and one of the few people I know who loves the mood an overcast day puts them in (mellow and deeply peaceful).
I have seen your icon photo before at Arlee Bird's "Tossing It Out" blog and I've always thought: In that picture, she looks a lot like my old friend Lin.
I have a picture of Lin Coleman taken at my Sister's wedding long ago. She's wearing a hat like you are in that picture and has the same hair type and color, etc.
You could Google her at IMDB - she's a film editor in Hollywood now.
