BLING BLING

My last post was how I imagined my future writer self...
I made it look easy, no?
I just imagined it and...
       **BLING **
It happened...
Living and writing in the Mexican Caribbean, that is.
And I told the story like I was living a fairytale...
But in my real world...
There were many crooked and gut-wrenching turns:
Failed marriages...
Breast cancer...
Deaths of dear loved ones...
Including my beloved just a year after joining him in Mexico...
Plus many other heartaches & frustrations.
And I know you’ve had your share of sorrows...
Everyone has them; no one is immune.
But despite all those sadnesses...
I dared to dream...
It’s what I’ve done all my life...
I remember when I was younger my mom often saying...
“Your teachers say if you didn’t daydream so much
You’d get better grades.”
       **SIGH**
I know mom...
And if I could say to her now...
I’d tell her that those daydreams are what kept me going...
They’re the reason I write today...
I always see stories...
Usually humorous ones.
So?
What about you?
What keeps you going?

Always,

NOW FEAR THIS

I don’t respect fear…
Of course there are things in this life…
That warrant caution…
(or a weapon)
Before plodding forward on something.
But I think fear can be used…
As a convenient excuse...
And though convenient…
It’s a crippling way to live...
Especially the ‘I’m afraid to fly,’ mantra.
OK, here’s a scenario…
If a loved one is critical in another city…
And the fastest way to get there is to fly..
Will you shelf your fear…
And fly before they die?
Or will fear cripple you even then?
And if you overcome your fear and fly then
Why can’t you overcome fear now
So you can enjoy life to the fullest?
Trust me…
I’ve flown with many a twisted gut...
But the older I get…
I’ve had to look fear in eyes…
And slap the f*#*king bitch and say...
“You think you’re stronger than me, fear?
You think you’re going to stop me, fear?
We’ll just see about that.”
I mean really?
How old do I have to be…
To be the conqueror over the fear within…
To be all that I hope to be...
Before my knees won’t bend…
Before my minds starts slipping…
And a cozy bed in a nursing home is beckoning…
And there I am in soggy diapers?
So?
Does fear ever hold you back...
And prevent you from doing what you want—now?
Or?
Have you over come any fear?

C.I.P.

 If you’re a writer…
Then you know how your mind fills with fantastic creative stuff everyday…
Plots, characters, new worlds… …
And it’s so much fun being up in your head, you don’t want to leave.
So, if you’re a busy writer like me…
Or even if you’re just plain busy…
You know what it’s like to have so much going on in your mind…
That you wind up doing mindless things…
Like getting off the wrong exit…
Forgetting to get the one thing you went to the store to get…
Forgetting to pay your house payment…
And one time, I was in such a rush…
I forgot to put on my underpants when I left the house.
Thank God you can’t see through jeans.
But alas, this morning
When I was working on my W.I.P (accent on the "P")...
I was so excited because I added a new chapter...
And I was loving it and didn't want to stop...
But with several cups of coffee in me…
And Mother Nature calling...darn!
I had to leave my laptop...
But ah HA! My mind could continue...
And ha HA! I had my protagonist up in a tree when she
Forgot to take off the underpants!
Well, you’re a writer, you can finish the story.
Actually don’t finish this story...
I will. I have nothing more to add except...
LORD!
So? Ever done anything as mindless or stupid?
