In Cancun airport…
Waiting to board…
The plane’s computer system went down…
(much better than the plane going down with me on it)
What was supposed to be a 5 hour flight…
Turned into a 38 hour ordeal instead.
But as any seasoned traveler knows…
You’ve got to be prepared for these situations…
Credit cards…
Books or mags…
Stash of healthy snacks…
A laptop and/or some device for music...
And most important—a mind…
That can easily tune in happy creative thoughts...
And tune out reality.
And my mind did tune in and tune out...
Too bad my feet couldn’t do the same!
After being re-routed...
Schlepping through three airport terminals…
And going through three security checkpoints…
My feet tripled in size…
(is this what’s meant by the rule of three?)
And that’s when it occurred to me…
Someone should invent expandable shoes.
I’m not kidding! Think of it…
Shoes should have a function mode…
That automatically adjusts to the swollen feet inside...
Because no foot (or me)…
Should ever have to endure...
Almost 38 hours of nonstop wear.
So?
What’s the worst your feet have endured?
And what do you when you travel…
To keep from going nuts?
Always, Em-Musing

I need those for work! I'm only there 8 hours, but still... 8 hours on my feet and those suckers do not look the same when I take them out of my shoes as they did going in. :)
FLIP FLOPS! OK, I'm weird. That's what happens when you stay too long in the Tropics.
Ahh, the corporeal realities of travel---ugh! I want those expandable shoes, too. My only semi-workable solution so far: drink as much water all day long as you can stand. It washes out the toxins and inflammation (but you have to be near toilets!!)
Brilliant idea! Make it so.
I got stuck once for an extra eight hours or so on my birthday and didn't get home until 4 am... that sucked. Not 38 hours though!
