MS. T

The alphabet is a journey of 26 letters...
Each letter begins a story.
On the drive back home…
From that weekend at the cabin in Michigan…
I left with something I hadn’t brought with me…
And I wasn’t going to give it back either…
Because I’d craved it for many years…
But it’s not like I stole it…
Or it accidentally fell into my suitcase…
I developed it.
While sitting and brainstorming…
With those MVRWA women writers (and one guy)…
Laughing at crazy scenarios till I almost peed…
Soothing those that got rejection letters…
Cheering another’s signing with an agent…
And every other possible facet of writing...

I realized that all that I experienced so far...
Was par.
And that's when I felt...

Something develop in me...
A Thicker hide.
And perspective...

But also…
Well…
U’ll have to see the rest tomorrow..

Always, Em-Musing

A thicker hide, who couldn't use that. Just when I think I'm there, I get zapped.

A thicker hide is something I definitely need. As usual I can't wait for the next installment! :)

"I left with something I hadn't brought with me." Mmmmm, yes. That's the goal.

Thicker hide and perspective are good tools to have in your writer's toolbox.

I have developed a thicker hide over the years. Its important if one wants to move forward and overcome challenges that try to squash us.

I love it. Couldn't we all use a thicker hide in this business? I like the way you told your story of discovering it.

Yes - I'd like a thicker hide too... Then again, the more you sit at your computer and write the thicker it gets, eh???

I hang out with a bunch of RWA people [oregon], and they're fab. One day I'll join. That camaraderie is great at helping us develop out thicker skins. It's great to know we're not alone.
