Last week…
After posting on my blog…
That I was a nervous wreck…
Anticipating pitching at the RWA national convention…I realized I’d better start practicing…
So as not to be such a wuss.
Well, I started practicing everywhere in my apartment…
The kitchen…
The living room…
My office…
And even in the shower.
And of course being wordy and rambling…
(and loving loooong hot showers)
My pitching practice continued…
After I stepped out of the shower…
Dried off…
And stood in front of the mirror…
To do my hair and make-up for the--
Aaahh!
My muse!
Was staring back at me!
Lord!
She’d left my shoulder…And was in the mirror!
And in full blown “Pitch” mode!
OMG!
Where were all those corny comments coming from?
Who’d did she think she was? A comedian?
And what were all those facial expressions?Who’d she think she was? Meryl Streep?
Cripes!I don’t know what’s worse?
Being a wuss or a wacko?
And then suddenly…
I realized exactly what I need to do!
Practice at Panera’s!
Well, not by myself to a bunch of strangers.
But with my fellow writers…
At our weekly coffee klatch!
It’s so good to have friends who are writers…
Because…
Not only do they understand me…
They understand my muse…
(Because they have one too.)
Always, Em-Musing

Great excuse to have a long hot shower! Others that support your dreams, tell you the truth, and most importantly, understand who you are essential to success, I believe! I'm glad you have those that can relate to your muse!
