H's SONG

The alphabet is a journey of 26 letters...
Each one beginning a new story.
So after a night of drinking mucho Kahlua and creams…
While reading the editor’s red remarks on my manuscript…
I woke up with a massive…
Hallelujah chorus…
Singing in my head, Messiah’s that is.
I got it!
The edits!
I didn’t need to have the sense knocked into me….
Because everything the editor wrote made sense.
She was honest…
Brutally so…
But I knew she was helping me…
And Lord knows, I needed it.
I also knew she included more than what I had paid for…
And I appreciated and respected her for this.
So this time I sat down with a cup…
Of my favorite Trader Joe Sumatra coffee…
(unspiked)
And…
Ah, ah ah…
You know the drill…
The rest of the story will be told by “I”

Always, Em-Musing

Nice when things come together and you realize the edits as well.

Yes, I find there's nothing like an editor or critique partner to keep me . . . Humble. It's one reason I keep on writing.

Miss you!

I love when an editor suggests good edits. Not the edits that would destroy the story and cater to what they want only.

I've found that working with a good editor is extremely liberating. Getting suggestion that completely change the story from a contest judge... not so much. Enjoy!

Don't you love it when all of sudden things that weren't clear suddenly are.

I like editors when they are truthful and when they do not try to please you instead of making what you've written better.

The best editors are harsh but truthful.

Good luck with the challenge!
